Marisa, una madre soltera que nació y fue criada en el Valle en una familia de clase media trabajadora, es la mujer detrás de las escenas que une a las comunidades para lograr:

My deepest gratitude to my friends, family, neighbors and supporters for believing in me and my campaign for LA City Council District 6.
Winning is never a guarantee; nevertheless Team Alcaraz poured our hearts, sweat and soul into this race. We ran a robust, intentional and community-centered campaign that unfortunately fell short of the win.
Regardless of the results, I’m glad that Council District 6 will finally have representation again and the District will have a voice on the Council.
No matter the sacrifices (and there were plenty) I don't carry any regrets. While this chapter is coming to a close, my role as a public servant will not. I will continue to remain committed to my mission in giving my all to our working families no matter what capacity or the title I hold. Thank you 🙏🏼
Election day is finally here and it feels like my birthday, Christmas and the Super Bowl all wrapped into one. I’ve learned so much throughout this process about my community and why I got into public service to begin with.
I’m proud of my record delivering higher wages, fair protections for renters, a cleaner environment, safer schools and communities, and thousands of units of affordable housing that make sense for neighborhoods.
If elected, I will be the first single mom to serve on the City Council and the seventh woman at the horseshoe. Council District 6, let’s make history together. I hope I can count on your vote.
On the eve of tomorrow’s special runoff election, I was asked about my top priorities. And while I’ve said this before, I’ll say it again - homelessness, homelessness, homelessness. Here’s my plan. Let’s work together to end this humanitarian crisis once and for all!

Over the weekend leading up to the Tuesday Special Runoff Election, I had the opportunity to attend a number of events across District 6. From our Get Out the Vote rally at my campaign headquarters, the Sun Valley Neighborhood Council community clean-up and participating in the San Fernando Valley Pride March & Block Party in Van Nuys. I also met with local neighbors at the Sepulveda Basin Off-Leash Dog Park and wrapped up the weekend by attending my local Neighborhood Watch chapter.
I had the pleasure of engaging in lively discussions with incredible community leaders and neighbors, revolving around promoting safety, community involvement, and connectivity in our neighborhood. I was left feeling positive and eager to work closely with key partners so that our communities are safer, stronger, healthier and more prosperous.
With that being said, if you have not already done so, please take the time to VOTE in this important election for our Valley community and help bring about the positive change that is long overdue.

This morning my pup Gracie and I had a great time at one of our favorite community gems, the Sepulveda Basin Off-Leash Dog Park.
We connected with many of our furry friends and their human counterparts, discussing a range of topics to help enhance the park, the community and the district overall.
A tail-wagging time was had by all!

I’m proud to say that my campaign has not accepted any oil, gas, or coal money directly or through independent expenditure. As an Environmental Policy Director I have made it a priority to increase green spaces, options for healthy foods, the LA 100 plan and getting our City to 100% renewable energy by 2035. I pledge to continue to prioritize the health of our children and our community over corporate profits.
